FullSizeRenderSo there’s that thing on Facebook where you can look at your Year in Review through photos…it made me think.

So much can happen in a year, and we each have our own timeline of what happened in our 2015. I learned what a narwhal was (and now have one on my desk) and got lots of grief from some of you, ha. I learned how to moonwalk and even learned how to avoid driving into a ditch (again). Most importantly, I’m still learning…but today (January 3rd), I’m a better driver, listener and moonwalker than I was on January 3, 2015. I’ve been challenged and stretched and have had to grow lots. I said goodbye to some friends and met new friends, too. There were laughs and tears and moments of (a little) eye-rolling.

I imagine you’ve had some of that this year, too. Are you a stronger person today than you were last year? (That could mean physically or mentally or emotionally.) Are you a better friend? Better son/daughter/parent? Are you kinder? Were you stretched and stressed in 2015 and you survived it pretty well? I’m guessing you can say YES to at least one of those questions.

Are we who we want to be? Are we living out Christ’s purpose for our lives?

Only you and God can answer these questions for yourself, but you can ask others around you if you’ve changed and improved this year. It’s good to have check-ins like that every once in a while, to make sure we are aware of ourselves and how we fit into this incredible world.

You can also go to the Bible for guidance on how to be more like God (it’s called being RIGHTEOUS in the Bible). Check out the book of Matthew…full of how to be righteous. Just like a chef should have recipes memorized to be able to make dinner on-the-spot for special guests, we Jesus followers should have a good amount of Scripture (Bible verses) memorized to guide us in life. Got it? Good.
