Yo, this week we’re gonna change things up and meet at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night for open gym time. Throughout the summer months we plan on continuing to meet weekly at this time for informal games, fun and fellowship (fellowship = hanging out, chillin’ etc).
Enjoy meals with your family (or alone in front of the TV) before meeting, as the “good ole days” of dinner (pizza) are on hiatus until Fall.
So much is changing quickly at Valley and if you are like me, y’all might be reminiscing about the “good ole’ days.” And, hey, guess what? Yep, our awesome Bible has a little something to say about those good old days.
Ecclesiastes 7:8-11 Better is the end of a thing than it’s beginning; the patient in spirit are better than the proud in spirit. Do not be quick to anger, for anger lodges in the bosom of fools. Do not say “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. Wisdom is as good as an inheritance, an advantage to those who see the sun.”
I always look back on the “good ole days” in my (super long) life and this passage helps me to remember that when I was living those times, they didn’t exactly seem like “good ole days” to me. They only seem good when I am looking back because I’ve forgotten all about the problems and bad stuff. G-d puts us in whatever circumstances are best for us at the time and we should always be grateful and content. Don’t freak out too much when bad stuff happens or get too angry at yer current sitch. Even if it seems like a really crummy and horrible time, there could also be something awesome happening that ends up being a future memory of those “good ole days” when we experienced change, growth, wisdom.. and maybe even met some new and interesting friends.
