This coming Wednesday is the fourth Wednesday of the month, which means its our monthly service night! We’re doing things a little bit differently this time around. We will not be holding a virtual Zoom meeting. Instead, I’m going to use this blog post to give you some ideas for service opportunities. This month’s service night will be an independent service night, and you get to choose what you want to do. If you’re unable to do anything on Wednesday, don’t let that stop you! You can always volunteer on other days of the week, we just like to encourage one night of volunteer service a month.
You could volunteer at a food pantry. Whether you want to help them with manual labor or donations, they need our support!

Call (503)841-9148 for volunteer opportunities.
There are also a bunch of different services you can provide people from home, if you don’t like the idea of volunteering somewhere in person.
You can also keep it simple by taking a walk through your neighborhood and picking up trash, but I highly recommend doing this with a family member.
American Red Cross is still actively doing blood drives.
Scheduling an appointment to donate blood is easy, and Red Cross is always looking for donors!
Your parents might also really appreciate it if you did some extra housework without being asked.
Of course, if you have service ideas of your own, then you’re not limited by this list. Do whatever you want to serve others! Serving others is serving others, and it is always a worthwhile, fulfilling pursuit.
“10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10 NIV
I look forward to seeing you all again soon!
