I never say howdy. Trying something new. Not sure how I feel about it. I’ll get back to you on that.
I’m shifting the tone.
The year 2020 certainly hasn’t let up. A massive storm called a “Derecho” hit the state of Iowa. I had never even heard of them until last week, but apparently they are basically a land hurricane. The storm flattened crops and knocked out power for a good portion of the state. And they’re in the middle of a drought on top of that. Iowa is certainly in need of our prayer right now.
You may have also heard of the massive wildfires in California. This one is close to home for me, literally. I have a lot of family in the Central Valley, which is being heavily affected by the smoke and ash right now. Please keep California in your prayers as well.
I don’t mean to be a downer, but there is power in prayer, and our country certainly needs a lot of prayer right now.
There are countless verses about prayer in the Bible. That’s not true. I just Googled it. There are 367. But that’s a lot.
Here are some that are especially poignant right now:
1 Thessalonians 5:17
“Pray without ceasing”
“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.”
“. . . do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
This one is really important to remember. Although we can’t gather physically, we can still join together in prayer.
My creative fuel is running a little low this week, so I’m going to wrap it up here. Stay connected, and stay prayerful. I look forward to seeing you all.
